I believe more and more, that while not everyone needs to get WLS to lose and maintain a good weight and life style, I think most of those who have gotten the WLS definitely get the whole concept of taking responsibility for themselves and their actions.
The link is to the thread on Obesity Help.com. I hope if you read it, you will see an interesting thing. No one on it is allowing history to repeat itself.

Exactly- because they had enough money and insurance to have the weight loss surgery unlike a lot of other individuals who have to face the fact the only way they are ever going to lose the weight is by diet and excercize. Its a lot easier to take 'responsibility' when the most difficult part is done for you by surgeons. So have a little patience for the rest of us who are being forced to do this the hard way.

Interestingly, its the WLS people are are increasingly the most self-righteous and petty on the site.

Equally interesting, it appears as though "anonymous" does not know the definition of self-righteous. Let me direct you here as a starting place: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=self-righteous&x=0&y=0

Wow. Self-righeous and petty, huh? Since I only know a handful of us who have been open about having had WLS, I can't help but take that comment a little personally.

Have surgery was the single most difficult decision I have ever had to make. I educated myself to the point of obsession to be absolutely clear about what I was doing. Indeed, I was one of the fortunate ones - my insurance did cover it - after I jumped through a few hoops first. But I know people who have mortgaged their homes in order to take this step, because they truly believe it is their last hope.

My surgeon did not do "the most difficult part". I still struggle with that. Every. Single. Day. And I will for the rest of my life. Which is, incidentally, why I am still a member at CK.

Well, I wasn't one of the lucky ones -- I paid for a bypass from my own pocket out of money that I earned. I don't begrudge anyone who paid for it through insurance.

What I see in the anonymous comment about money and insurance is jealousy. Get off your dead ass an earn the money if you have to. I also see in the anonymous comment is someone who is so insecure s/he is afraid to say who s/he is.

I really appreciate it when people sling the whole "you took the easy way out" comment. It's nice to now I'm not so stupid that I'd choose to take the hard way out.
